Meet The Team
Claire Fierman, LPC
Founder, Clinical Director
Hi! I'm Claire! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor located in Birmingham, Alabama, specializing in the treatment of trauma, anxiety, depression and substance abuse disorders. My clinical practice and expertise stems from my own personal therapeutic work. About 15 years ago, I decided to take a deep dive into my own darkness, and I have continued to do so over and over again. The more I can tell my truth and look at all my yuckiness, the better I feel. I decided to deal to heal. I'm here to help you do the same.
After practicing counseling for 10 years, I strive to look for the inherent wholeness of each client, and create a safe and non-judgmental environment to simply witness your truth. Understanding that growth and healing is more powerful when clients find their own answers, I aim to lead my clients as they engage in the process of discovering truth and healing. You know you the best.
If you like knowing credentials this part is for you. I graduated from the University of Montevallo with a Master’s degree in counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have extensive clinical experience, having worked in residential treatment as a primary therapist and Clinical Director. I also am a total knowledge junkie, so I am consistently engaging in trainings, research, and personal therapeutic work. Outside of all the paperwork needed to become a therapist, I like connecting with people. We are made to connect with others.
I also do other things. Like fun things. I have two young children, two dogs, and too many cats. I make a killer pie and am overly competitive in Yahtzee. Crime TV shows suck me in and then give me nightmares. I buy vitamins and forget to take them. My last thought every night is: "Dear Coffee Cup, I cannot wait to see you in the morning." I like to just show up in all of my humanity, so you can too.
Hey! I’m Monte. I am a counseling intern based in Birmingham AL. I am studying to earn a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado.
My decision to enter the counseling profession is the product of having done my own therapeutic work in discovering my authenticity and learning to express it. I enjoy celebrating the authenticity in every person I work with and strive to meet darkness with empathy and compassion through a Person-Centered approach. I believe the hard work of digging deep into our narrative and finding our truth is the greatest gift we can give ourselves and to the world.
When I am not working or studying, you can find me playing a guitar and writing music, digging through vinyl record bins, camping with my people, or at Long’s Fish Camp back home in Mississippi. My wife and I are parents to a beautiful human and a crazy Red Heeler named “Tuff”. Pizza is my love language and I must have dark chocolate chips in my Blue Bell.
You have a lot to look forward to, and I am grateful for the opportunity to walk with you on your journey.
See you soon!
Recovery Coach + Case Management
Hello! I’m Mills and I am a counseling master’s student at UAB. I grew up in the Birmingham area, and returned in 2018 to work in business development with a local nonprofit and attend graduate school. My decision to become a recovery coach, and eventually a counselor, has been the result of the natural evolution of my skills and experiences in the world of recovery.
My serpentine journey towards a life in recovery began over a decade ago, but truly started on August 4th, 2016. On this date a trusted friend and advisor sat down across from me and outlined the spiritual program of action that would ultimately save my life. I see the bright and inclusive world of recovery through a 12-step lens, but recognize that recovery is not a one size fits all process. I am passionate about meeting those on their own recovering journey, and their families, exactly where they are through a collaborative and inclusive process. Empathy, accountability and integrity guide my approach as I aim to help recovering people, and their families, achieve a lifetime of freedom from alcoholism and addiction. I strongly believe that true recovery from alcoholism and addiction is demonstrated out in the world. If we aren’t having fun and giving more to this world more than we take from it, what’s the point?
When I am not working, studying, or actively engaging in my own personal recovery, you can find me playing the mandolin, golfing, or doing my best to fulfill my curiosity with travel. I am married and the dad to a beautiful little girl, with a little boy on the way. If you had told me a decade ago what my life would look like today, I would’ve told you that my current reality was totally impossible. Watching other men achieve their own version of “impossible” is one of the many bright spots of my life today. I look forward to joining you on this journey!
